Why remove the DPF?

Does you car have DPF?

Since smoke from a car fitted with DPF is colourless, this will be your first indication that you have DPF. Furthermore all cars with DPF have computerised signals that indicate the level of regeneration, thus if your car has one then definitely it has DPF. Finally when you are buying the car the seller will tell you if the car you purchase is fitted with DPF.

It is not an MOT requirement

The UK does not have any laws that cars be fitted with DPF. Thus you can follow these steps to remove DPF from your car. First you need to remove the hardware that comes installed with the car by replacing the exhaust pipe with a new one. This is however for specific brands of vehicles only. Hardware can also be removed by getting rid of the DPF brick which is located inside the car. After removing the hardware you need to remove the software that regulates regeneration cycles and other functions associated with DPF engines. The best way to do this is through removal of the ECU and then setting it on a new program.
